Hi Pascal,
For some reason the link to your experiment with SpaceClaim is missing. Can you please post it again? I'm interested to see how students are using SpaceClaim.
Thank you.

Hi,

SpaceClaim is a wonderful tool for preliminary design made by students which haven't any knowledge or how-know in CAD. If you want to focus your course on mechanical design or the design process and not on a non-user-friendly GUI, SPACECLAIM is the right choice.

I already made an experiment with SPACECLAIM during one of my course :

Sorry, this page is in french !

Coments are welcome

Something new and something blue, at least I think it goes something like that. I have a tremendous interest in everything CAD and I am keeping a very close eye on SpaceClaim. I keep in touch with all the newsletters written by the some of the very best in users from all the leaders but I am still not convinced as to the proper or best format of creating geometry between all the various types out there. So I read and try what I come across and write about it, hopefully in a favorable way. I lable myself as an expert beginner so admittedly I have much to learn still. At this age that might not ever be completed but for those younger people coming up in this world of CAD, CAE, AEC, CAM and MCAD we need to try ironing out some issues that they should not have to fight in their time at bat. I think what might be the very most important issue to date on interoperability and that is what we need the industry leaders to come together on in a summit and agree on a universal, 100% compatible format between all programs. Even if they have to reinvent a format to bring that about and without leaving anything behind in the translations. Doing this would solve a major issue today about not being able to import a file from a different program in the so called nuetral formats. If we could only accomplish interoperability in the near future all the CAD world would benefit and many, many dollars would be saved. It would also allow the water in CAD programs to seek their own level of use in the industry. Some will be better at some things and be used more for those things. Other programs will improve or drop by the wayside as the survival of the fittest takes it's toll. Because of the lack of total inoperability today we are prolonging the inevitable of one or two or perhaps three shining stars being used. Of course this is my point of view but I am old enough to have seen many things compete in this world and drop by the side on the road that is more traveled by those that and could adapt.
