So wondering. Do you think these products compliment each other?

Hi there. I do not believe that there will ever be a real struggle between SolidWorks and SpaceClaim as you might suggest. There are some common denominators between them and one of them is that SpaceClaim has been invented by one of the same founding fathers of SolidWorks. It is even located in the old builiding of SolidWorks down the street from their new Company Headquarters. I do not see one gobbling up the other in a struggle for the major role playing in the MCAD world. What I do see is the possibility of these two very fine programs becoming 100% compatible with one another in the future. Offering at least one format to save in that will be completely compatible with one another. Recently Autodesk and another similar Autocad type program have done this. Sorry I cannot remember the name of the other company but it might be IntelliCAD or ArchiCAD. Not sure which one. This is the beginning of what is needed so badly in this industry. Billions of dollars are lost when engineers or others must "master" a file outside of their own native file formats. A waste of time and resources. Does it really matter what program you use to create intelligent geometries? I think it is much more important that they all are able to talk and play with one another nicely. Agreements must be reached and put into practice so our youngsters coming up will not waste time but be able to collaborate with anyone else around the world no matter what program is being used. Amazingly, we can put people on the moon and get them back here but we cannot create a really and truly universal CAD file format. I guess what I have said here will open up a bag of worms out there but that is what is supposed to happen, rigth? Let us just all agree to agree or disagree and out of that will come some very important things that the movers and shakers in the world of CAD will pay attention to out there. Bye for now.
